February Update
FCAT TESTING IS MARCH 9TH AND 10TH FOR GRADES 3-10 AND RETAKES. MARCH 16 FOR SCIENCE 5TH, 8TH, AND 11TH GRADES. 5TH GRADE WILL ALSO TEST FOR SCIENCE ON THE 17TH.
SCHOLARSHIPS CONTINUE TO COME IN. THEY ARE ANNOUNCED IN THE SEAHAWK SCOOP AS THEY COME IN. PARENTS SHOULD CALL MRS. BROWNING AND HAVE THEIR EMAIL ADDRESS ADDED TO THE MAILING LIST.
PARENTS CAN ALSO CONTACT ANY TEACHER IN THE SCHOOL BY USING THEIR FIRST INITIAL, THEIR LAST NAME@franklin.k12.fl.us. For example: dmcgrath@franklin.k12.fl.us. Many parents have not picked up their user name and password to Pinnacle online. You may check your child's grades, assignments, and attendance from any computer. Please come to the school and talk to Mrs. Boatwright to sign the confidentiality release.

October 22 update

REPORT CARDS will be given out at Open House on November 2 from 5 until 7 in the students homeroom. Parents will have the opportunity to visit classrooms and teachers.
CAREER DAY will be held November 5th from 9:00 a.m. to Noon in the gymnasium. Parents are welcome. This event is hosted by the BETA club.
TESTING: FCAT retakes completed Oct 23. The results should be in by January.
The College Placement Test was given by Gulf Coast Community College to all 11th graders and a 2nd session was held for 12th and 10th graders who wanted to dual enroll.
The PLAN test, which is the Pre-ACT test will be held for all 10th graders on November 19th. This test gives a very good idea of how well a student would perform on the ACT.
The ASVAB will be held November 2 for those students interested in the military. They need to sign up with their homeroom teacher. It is also a very good career aptitude assessment. It is offered to all 11th and 12th graders

Welcom to the 2009-10 school year. We expect this to be our best year ever.

New for this year is the honors program in the High School. We offer honors courses in English as well as AP English, World History, American History, Biology, Marine Science, Geometry, and Algebra II.

In cooperation with Gulf Coast Community College we are offering dual enrolled classes on campus during the school day: Culinary and Information Technology. We are planning on offering dual enrolled Health in the 2nd semester.

TESTING:
The College Placement Test will be held on September 21 at 9 a.m for Juniors. This test is used for placement in English and Computation courses at the college level. It is also used to place students in a 12th grade high school elective, Math for College Success, to prepare them for college level math.

The ACT test. Franklin County School is a testing center for the ACT. It is offered on campus 10/12 and 12/12 2009 and 2/6, 4/10, and 6/12 2010. Registration packets are available in Guidance or you may apply on-line to take the test. School Code 100 383, Test Center 227-180. Registration deadlines apply. SAT registration information is also available although we are not an SAT Test Center.
